I particularly like your selection of photographs of Fear. The Messages and brief outline of what each picture is about is such a good idea. You have inspired me to use my dreams as a base for my exam, but also linking it to another question with messages, as your art has shown me different ways of showing messages, i find your art has hidden meanings behind each figure and object.

I'm particularly interested in the process through which you turn something as abstract as a dream into a single (or a few) photos which convey a message. How was it the first time you ever went through the process. It would be incredibly fascinating to get an answer- most of my favourite artists are dead. These photos and pictures completely help with my interpretation of dreams and as many others on here i am using these examples for my GSCE coursework on fantastic forms. I looked you up in a hope to find some more photos to use but i stumbled across your dream journal and it completely fascinated me. Insomnium is an astounding achievement and opens peoples minds to how dreams can be portrayed through art and what they can mean. I too keep track of certain dreams when i can and i think that over time their meanings become clearer as you re-read them. I just wanted to say thankyou for the help you have given me and the help i will continue to get from this website.

this is so facinating, although i was wandering if you could help me with a dream i had yesterday afternoon. it doesnt seem to relate, the day before i worked, and yesterday i was at tech, it was the usual first day back. excited to see friends, meeting ur new lecturers. well the dream goes like this...
I was in my flat and one of my friends from joburg gave me a supprise visit, everytime we were about to chat and catch up my flat would flood, so we would have to quickly sort that out, then my dragons cage started flooding, and we just couldnt stop it from flooding, my dragon ended up turning into a dog, but sometimes he would be the size of a jack russel then he would be as small as a rat. he kept changing sizes.
Suddenly my family all appeard at my flat to have a braai, but they werent concerned about me at all, they did their own thing. I was feeling very depressed, so i got in my car and drave around, i ended up on the high way but i was the only car on the highway. i landed up at some shop, where i was trying to buy something, or claim it with a gift voucher i got, but they wanted me to pay, and i couldnt afford what ever it was that i wanted. next thing some fat black lady starts fighting with me, so we started fighting in the shop, i managed to take her out, but she recovered fast, the shop owner came and as she was about to attack me they shocked this woman to sleep, and took her into the hospital right nextdoor, i thanked them but then they told me they need to put me to sleep aswell, i did not argue, i let them, but after they gave me the shot i realised i should probably let my family know. i took out my phone, tried dialing my dad but my phone had brocken from the fight. so i asked if i could go see them and tell them, the nurse told me i had 2 hours. as i was driving off i was very drowsy, and at the entrance of the mall i saw my parents thanking my sister for the wonderful afternoon, got in their car and drove back to joburg, 600kms away, my sister then also left. i saw my friend jonny, so i got him in my car, we came back to my flat but on the way he was crying, i asked if he was ok, and he snapped at me "NO IM NOT!" so i kept quiet. got to my flat to get something before i went back to the hospital. when i got back to my car jonny was gone, i looked everywhere for him. so i just drove back, while i was driving back i started panicing because i wasnt tired anymore and i knew i was supposed to be, thought i would get into trouble for not being tired, i parcked my car but it started rolling back, the nurse and i tried to stop it but we couldnt, jonny had cut the break cables. my car rolled all the way across the parking lot, smashing into a 4x4 bucky, sent the bucky flying over the freeway in mid traffik, fortunatly they wernt hit. then there was a big man that got out the bucky, he looked furious and as he started crossing the freeway i woke up.
what does it mean? i dont usually remember my dreams but when i do they bug me for years!

Very cool and original work. It was moving, bazaar, creative, and intriguing. I have attempted creating works of art inspired by dreams, but photography seems very challenging since it is from reality-- I guess dreams are, as well, just distorted like your work. Excellent, keep it up, man! You are awesome.

Hi Kevin-I got to your site by reading you're posting at ASD. I'm not an artist but I had this dream many years ago that I wrote a poem about. Poetry seemed to be the only surreal medium that I could use to express the atmosphere. Anyhow, I did poor man copywrite the poem, but I always wanted to see it brought to life and there are a couple distinct moods to work with. If you'd like to give it a shot let me know and I'll send it to you!

Just re the dream of the trees: what of another strategy: continue walking in the middle (the perfect place to be!!) but be aware of the trees on your right and left (they won't seem so fearsome from the central position: they only acquire a fearsome aspect when you are on either one side or the other).
